PawSafe is a pet care directory that connects pet owners with trusted, independent pet care providers across the United States. We list providers offering services including pet boarding, dog walking, cat sitting, house sitting, and pet grooming.

Think of us like a curated Yellow Pages for pet care โ€” we help you find someone great in your area, and you contact them directly. We don't take a cut of any booking and there are no platform fees for pet owners.

Yes โ€” completely free. Pet owners can browse all listings, view provider profiles, and submit contact enquiries at no cost. We don't charge booking fees or service fees of any kind.

Providers may pay a listing fee for Pro or Featured tier placement, but this never affects what you pay for pet care services.

Use the search bar on the homepage โ€” enter your city or ZIP code and select the service you need (boarding, walking, sitting, etc.). You'll be taken to a page showing all available providers in that area.

You can also browse directly by navigating to your state or city page through the main menu.

๐Ÿ’ก Tip: Use the filter sidebar on the results page to narrow down by service type, pet accepted, or provider features like fenced yard.

No account needed. You can browse listings and submit contact enquiries as a guest. Your name, email, and message will be sent directly to the provider.

Creating an account (coming soon) will allow you to save favourite providers and track your enquiry history.

For Pet Owners

Open a provider's profile page and scroll down to the contact form. Fill in your name, email, pet type, dates needed, and a message. Hit Send โ€” your enquiry goes directly to the provider's registered email address.

Most providers respond within a few hours. If you don't hear back within 48 hours, try reaching out to another provider or contact us so we can follow up.

Yes โ€” and we strongly recommend it. Most PawSafe providers are happy to do a free meet-and-greet before your first booking. Mention this in your initial message and agree on a convenient time.

A meet-and-greet lets your pet interact with the sitter in a relaxed setting, and lets you see their home setup in person before leaving your animal in their care.

Once you've agreed to a booking, share the following with your provider:

  • Your vet's name and phone number
  • Your pet's medical history, vaccinations, and current medications
  • Any allergies, dietary restrictions, or feeding schedules
  • Behavioural notes โ€” especially anything that might affect how your pet reacts to new people or environments
  • Your emergency contact number and where you'll be during the care period

First, try to resolve it directly with the provider. Most issues can be addressed through clear communication.

If the issue is serious โ€” for example, the provider acted negligently or your pet was harmed โ€” contact us at safety@pawsafe.com. We take all complaints seriously and will review the provider's listing.

For genuine emergencies involving your pet's health or safety, contact a veterinarian immediately.

Ratings on PawSafe profiles are a combination of editorially assigned scores (based on publicly available information at the time of listing) and user-submitted reviews. We clearly mark the review count alongside each rating so you can gauge how much evidence is behind a score.

We are building a user review system (coming soon) that will allow pet owners to submit verified reviews after completing a care arrangement.

The Verified badge indicates that PawSafe has reviewed the provider's profile and confirmed their basic information โ€” name, location, and service details โ€” is accurate and complete.

Verification does not mean we have conducted a criminal background check or independently confirmed the provider's credentials unless specifically stated on their profile.

Go to our Become a Provider page and complete the application form. It takes about 5 minutes. We review every application within 2 business days and will email you at the address you provide.

Once approved, your profile will go live and pet owners in your city will be able to find and contact you.

A basic listing on PawSafe is free. Paid tiers are available for providers who want enhanced visibility:

  • Free ($0) โ€” Basic listing, contact form, standard placement
  • Pro ($19/month) โ€” Photo gallery, full bio, pricing table, Verified badge, sort boost
  • Featured ($39/month) โ€” Everything in Pro plus gold badge and pinned placement at the top of city pages

You can upgrade at any time by contacting us at providers@pawsafe.com.

When a pet owner submits a contact form on your profile, their message is sent directly to the email address you registered on your listing. You reply to them directly โ€” there's no platform messaging system at this stage.

Make sure your registered email is one you check regularly. If you need to update it, contact us and we'll update your profile.

Currently, profile updates are handled manually. Send your updated details to providers@pawsafe.com and we'll apply the changes within 1 business day.

A self-service provider dashboard (where you can update your own profile) is in development and will be available later this year.

Photo galleries are available on Pro and Featured tier listings. If you're on one of those tiers, email your photos to providers@pawsafe.com along with your profile URL and we'll add them within 1 business day.

Please send photos in JPG or PNG format. We recommend images showing your home environment, your yard (if applicable), and you with animals in your care.

To temporarily deactivate or permanently remove your listing, email providers@pawsafe.com with your request. We'll action it within 1 business day.

Deactivated listings are hidden from search results but your profile data is retained so it can be reactivated quickly when you're ready.

Providers who display a "Background Checked" badge on their profile have self-reported completing a background check. PawSafe reviews this information as part of the listing approval process but does not currently conduct independent third-party background checks on all providers.

We strongly encourage pet owners to conduct their own due diligence, including asking providers for references and verifying any credentials they claim to hold.

Your pet's health comes first. If your pet requires urgent care, contact a veterinarian immediately โ€” do not wait for provider or PawSafe authorisation.

Once your pet is safe, contact the provider to discuss what happened. If you believe the provider acted negligently or dishonestly, report it to us at safety@pawsafe.com. We will review the complaint and take appropriate action, which may include removing the provider from the platform.

PawSafe is a directory service โ€” we connect pet owners with independent providers. We are not responsible for the actions of providers or for outcomes of care arrangements made through the platform. Any arrangement is directly between you and the provider.

If you come across a listing that appears fake, misleading, or suspicious, please report it to safety@pawsafe.com with the URL of the listing and a description of your concern. We review all reports promptly.

Billing & Plans

PawSafe offers Pro ($19/month) and Featured ($39/month) tiers for providers who want enhanced visibility. These are monthly subscriptions billed to a payment method on file.

Paid tier management (self-serve upgrades, downgrades, and cancellations) will be available through a provider dashboard later this year. For now, contact providers@pawsafe.com to manage your plan.

Yes. You can cancel at any time by contacting providers@pawsafe.com. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. Your listing reverts to the Free tier โ€” it remains live but without the paid-tier features.

Listing fees are non-refundable except where required by applicable law. If you believe a charge was made in error, contact us within 30 days and we'll review your case.

Yes โ€” always. Pet owners never pay PawSafe anything. There are no booking fees, service fees, or subscription requirements. Browsing listings and contacting providers is completely free.

Go to the Sign In page and click "Forgot password?" below the form. Enter your registered email address and we'll send you a reset link. Check your spam folder if it doesn't arrive within a few minutes.

For provider accounts: email providers@pawsafe.com with your current email and your new details. We'll update your record within 1 business day.

For general site accounts: use the WordPress account settings page (accessible after logging in), or contact us for assistance.

To request account deletion, email privacy@pawsafe.com from your registered email address. We will delete your account and associated personal data within 30 days, subject to any legal retention obligations.

Provider profiles are deactivated and hidden from the directory when an account is deleted.
